We are thrilled about our upcoming trip to New York City and the chance to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is a significant event for Lake Hamilton and Hot Springs, and a huge honor for Arkansas, as the Lake Hamilton Power Band will be the third school from the state to participate in the parade’s history.

Marching bands have been a key part of the parade since 1924. Each year, around 10 high school and university bands are selected from across the U.S. The selection process starts 18 months in advance and is based on factors like national recognition and past performances. Band members are surprised with the news during Macy’s cross-country Band Announcement Tour, where they receive their official Macy’s Parade drumhead.
